IPTV Smart TV Guide: Set Up IPTV on Samsung and LG TVs

Most Samsung and LG Smart TVs from recent years can run IPTV with no extra box. This IPTV Smart TV guide explains how to check your TV, install an IPTV player from the TV’s own app store, add your IPTV UAE login and set the picture up for sport and 4K.

Check your Smart TV first

A few minutes of checking saves time later:

  • The system: Samsung TVs run Tizen and LG TVs run webOS. Both have app stores with IPTV players. Many other brands run Google TV or Android TV; for those, use our Android TV guide.
  • The age of the TV: very old Smart TVs may not get current player apps. If you can’t find a player, a streaming stick is the easy fix.
  • The connection: a cable from the router to the TV gives the steadiest picture. On Wi-Fi, choose the 5 GHz network.
  • The software: update the TV first. Samsung: Settings > Support > Software Update. LG: Settings > All Settings > Support (or General) > About This TV, then check for updates.

How to set up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV

  1. Open Apps

Press the Home button on the remote and go to Apps.

  2. Find and install the IPTV player

Choose the search icon and type the name of the player app we recommend for your TV. Select it and choose Install.

  3. Open the app and note the device details

Many Smart TV players show a device ID, MAC address or device key on the first screen. Take a photo of it with your phone, as you may need it to add your playlist.

  4. Add your IPTV UAE login

Depending on the app, type the login details we sent straight into the TV, or add them on the app’s website using the device ID from step 3. Not sure which? Send us the photo on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you.

  5. Restart the app and start watching

Close the app and open it again so the channel list loads. Open Live TV, choose a category and press play.

Enter the login details we sent, or add them on the app’s website with your device ID. Then restart the app.

  5. Pin it to the home bar

Best picture settings for IPTV on a Smart TV

Samsung

  • Set Picture Mode to Standard or Movie rather than Dynamic.
  • For sport, Auto Motion Plus on a low setting smooths fast movement. Turn it off for films.
  • Turn off Energy Saving Mode if the picture looks dim.

LG

  • Choose Standard, Cinema or Filmmaker Mode in the picture settings for films.
  • For sport, TruMotion on a low setting smooths fast movement.
  • Turn off Energy Saving for a brighter image.

Every Smart TV

  • Use a cable to the router for 4K.
  • If the app misbehaves after standby, switch the TV off at the wall for a minute or turn off its quick-start setting (Instant On on Samsung, Quick Start+ on LG).

When a streaming stick is the better choice

If your TV is older, slow, or can’t find a player app, plug a Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box into a spare HDMI port. You keep the TV you like and get a faster app with more choice of players.

See our IPTV Firestick guide or the Android box guide for the steps.

IPTV Smart TV FAQ

Do I need a box to watch IPTV on a Samsung or LG TV?

Usually not. Recent Samsung and LG TVs run IPTV player apps from their own store. For older TVs, a streaming stick is the simplest upgrade.

Does IPTV work on Smart TVs from other brands?

Yes. Many other brands run Google TV or Android TV, which have the widest choice of players. Follow our Android TV guide.

Why does the player ask for a device ID or MAC address?

Some Smart TV players link your playlist to the TV through a device ID. It is how the app knows which TV should receive your channel list.

Can I watch 4K IPTV on my Smart TV?

Yes, on a 4K TV with a fast, stable connection. Use a cable or strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi and allow about 25 Mbps for the TV.
